The U of T Formula SAE Racing Team presents UT14 for the 2014 FSAE racing season. The vehicle marks UTFSAE’s 17th year participating in a competition that asks students to develop a small Formula-style vehicle as a potential production item. This past year the vehicle has seen marked improvements over its predecessor, featuring aluminum cast uprights, air dampers, and a slipper clutch. As all of these are firsts for UT, the season has also been spent fine tuning these in preparation for competition.
Outside of our passion for racing, the team dedicated time to the U of T community. We were very pleased with the accomplishments of both the FSAE Capstone and the FSAE Engineering Strategies & Practice teams. Both have produced useful research that will be tested this summer and hopefully implemented in the 2015 season. Amongst a younger generation, the UTFSAE team also joined the Junior DEEP at March Break Program where we shared our passion for engineering with young aspiring engineers. This was an enriching experience for everyone and we hope to participate again in DEEP in the future.
This season the team will be competing locally in Barrie, as well as internationally in Michigan and Italy. Over the next month we will be preparing ourselves for a great culmination of a year of hard work. As the innovation does not end, nor does our recruitment. We invite students to join us this summer as we begin our 2015 vehicle design during the first week of June.
