The UofT Shootout

Since 2001, our team has hosted Canada’s largest student-run racing event – The UofT Shootout.  The U of T Shootout is an event dedicated to the Formula SAE and Formula Student racing series. With over 500 participating universities worldwide, Formula SAE challenges student teams to design, manufacture, and race an open-wheel, open-cockpit, combustion vehicle each year.

Held at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, this event attracts 21 Formula SAE teams for a full day of autocross racing. The UofT Shootout ends the season for North American teams as a final opportunity to showcase a year’s worth of hard work. Teams are rigorously evaluated at competition on the design, economics, and dynamic performance of their car and prizes are awarded to teams for both individual driver and cumulative team performance.

Brechin Motorsport Park (also known as Gamebridge) has been hosting kart races for over thirty years, and has recently been acquired by new owners and expanded significantly. The original section of the track is tight and technical, but has been widened, and the new South Loop offers exciting opportunities for dozens of track configurations and promises exciting autocross laps. Support facilities at the track have recently been renovated, making Brechin Motorsports Park a fantastic venue for our annual Shootout event.
