The second competition of the season was Formula North in Barrie from June 4-7. Aiming to continue its success from FSAE Michigan, the team competed strong to improve its overall performance from the previous year.
In the overall event scores, the team improved in both the Static (from 5th to 4th place) and Dynamic (from 12th to 10th place) events. This year we also placed 1st only in the Cost event and 2nd in the Business event. U of T FSAE saw improvements on all fronts of the dynamic events. The team did however experience some difficulties off track with a punctured tire. Although it was not due to any shortcomings on our part, we could have been more prepared to handle it.
Though not disappointed, the team is not entirely satisfied with its overall performance at Formula North this year. There were many lessons learned that we will continue to carry forward with us and apply to future competitions. U of T FSAE Racing aims for excellence and will continue to work until it is achieved. With this in mind, the team now heads for Germany, towards the challenge that awaits us at the European frontier.
